Are your teeth the cause of disease?

There is increasing awareness in both dentists and patients of the symbiotic relationship between our dental health and our physical and emotional health. Every tooth in your mouth is connected bio-electrically to a part of your body. For example, the wisdom teeth are connected to the heart and the two upper front teeth are connected to the prostate for the male and the uterus for the female. Therefore, if you have a disease or blockage in a particular tooth it can impact that part of the body that it is connected to.

This relationship is a beautiful illustration of one of the main themes behind holistic philosophy, the interconnectedness of all the systems, organs and functions of the body.

Good dental health naturally includes things like brushing and flossing and the avoidance of sugar, however it is much more complex than that.

Many people are unaware that their teeth have disease or blockage, because most common procedures that we are lead to believe are safe by traditional dentists are really very harmful to our health. Although any dental material or procedure can cause a problem, the three most common and devastating to your health are amalgam fillings, root canals and incomplete extractions and the development of cavitations, which often ensues these procedures.

The root canal is a very common procedure where most dentists are unaware of the toxic consequences. With a root canal, infection can develop because bacteria remains in the tooth after the root canal has been performed and this bacteria emits neurotoxic chemicals, which can be absorbed into the blood stream and transported into any organ in the body where systemic illness can then occur. It is also very common for root canals to harbor cavitations, and thus create more toxins. To prevent disease from root canals, the tooth needs to be extracted properly. In addition to that, the ingredients used in a standard root canal are also toxic to the body.

A cavitation is a serious dental health issue that many people have never heard of. It is a hole in your jawbone, usually the size and shape of the root that was once there. If the ligament is not removed, incomplete healing takes place and a cesspool of neurotoxic chemicals build in the bone and then bone death can occur. These toxic chemicals remain present in the ligament and then can seep slowly into the body and cause serious disease. The toxins released also kill important enzymes in the body that are necessary for the energy production cycle.

Cavitations can also occur when you have an extraction. When you have an extraction the periodontal ligament (a group of fibers that unite tooth and bone) should also be removed and traditional dentists rarely if ever do this.

A cavitation usually can’t be seen in an x-ray and doesn’t respond to antibiotics. There is a machine called a Cavitat that is capable of detecting cavitations, but it isn’t always accurate either. The most common method of treating a cavitation is through surgery where an incision needs to be made into the infected bone, the toxins need to be cleaned out and then the bone needs to be scraped of debris.
Amalgam fillings are the silver fillings that most dentists use to fill a cavity and they contain mercury. Mercury is the most toxic inorganic heavy metal known. The mercury leaches out of your filling and is absorbed into your blood stream where it can be transported into any organ in the body and cause disease. Alternative filling materials should be used to prevent this from happening. Alternatives should not include any other form of metal. Metal of any kind should not be put in the mouth.

All three of these of dental health occurrences compromise the immune system and serious degenerative disease can develop in other parts of the body. Most any symptom can occur but here are some of the most common:

  • ear pain and ringing
  • tooth sensitivity
  • cheek and face pain
  • headache
  • migraines
  • neck and shoulder pain
  • inflammation of heart valves and muscles
  • chronic muscle and joint inflammations
  • nerve inflammations
  • neuralgias
  • ulcers
  • gall bladder problems
  • cystitis
  • pneumonia
  • bronchitis
  • rheumatism
  • asthma
  • nephritis
  • thyroid disease
  • hypertension
  • skin disorders
  • diabetes
  • depression
  • anxiety
  • mood swings
  • chronic fatigue
  • unexplained irritability
  • tremors
  • tachycardia
  • digestive disturbances
  • difficulty making decisions
  • unexplained weight gain
  • cravings for food
  • TMJ
  • Alzheimers
  • MS, Lupus, Parkinsons and other autoimmune disorders

Many individuals who have removed their amalgams, root canals and cavitations have reported miraculous improvements in symptoms. However it’s important to note, that for some people the damage is irreversible and the best that can be achieved is prevention of any further deterioration in their dental health or other chronic health conditions.

Toxic Toothpaste

Most brand name toothpastes that even your traditional dentist will recommend contain a variety of toxic chemicals that should not be put in your mouth. Just take a look on the side of the package and you will see warnings that say it isn’t safe to swallow.

Some of these toxins may include fluoride, sodium lauryl sulfate, saccharin, sorbitol, aspartame, methylparabens, ethylparabens, titanium dioxide, tetrasodium pyrophosphate, FD & C Blue No 1, and tricloscan.

Contrary to popular belief, fluoride does not prevent tooth decay, it is such a potent chemical that at one time it was frequently used in rat poison, tricloscan is a pesticide, sodium laurly sulphate is a foaming detergent, artificial sweeteners have been linked to numerous health conditions and parabens are known carcinogens.

The tissue and membranes in your mouth are very permeable and these toxins can be easily absorbed into your body through your mouth and result in a variety of detrimental effects to our health including cancer and death.

There are a variety of natural and non-toxic toothpastes on the market. Take your time to educate yourself, read the labels thoroughly and choose a toothpaste that is safe and healthy for you and your family.

Holistic Dental Health

A holistic approach to your dental health is the best way to ensure that you won’t be damaging your health in the process of taking care of your teeth.

There are many dentists out there who are not enlightened and engage in practices that could possibly put your health at risk.

Find a holistic dentist who does not use amalgam (mercury) fillings or any metal what-so-ever, someone who knows how to perform extractions without putting you at risk of cavitations and one who does not promote the practice of root canals. One that practices biological dentistry is preferred.

A holistic dentist will take every step necessary to provide you with the safest possible alternatives available and will also take other important things into account such as diet and nutritional factors.
