Used for the digestive tract, urinary tract, lungs and for the womb. Used for period pain problems and is equally as valuable for such common problems in our modern society as asthma (or constricted breathing in general) functional bowel disorders such as indigestion or IBS, heart palpitations, muscle aches and pains.
Red Elder Berry Powder combines perfectly with other herbs and works in unison with them to bring relief to the user. Red Elder Powder shows itself as a deeply warming and relaxing herb.
Excerpt from Felter & Lloyd’s Kings Dispensatory from 1898; Red Elder Powder is very effective in relaxing cramps and spasms of all kinds, as asthma, hysteria, cramps of the limbs or other parts in females, especially during pregnancy. It is highly beneficial to those who are subject to convulsions during pregnancy, or at the time of parturition, preventing the attacks entirely, if used daily for the last 2 months of gestation. It is a remedy for the prevention of abortion, and to prepare the way for the process of parturition.
It helps relieve uterine irritation and painful menstruation and is a favorite remedy with many physicians. It has been used in spasmodic contraction of the bladder, and in spasmodic inflammation.

Red Elder Berry Powder is exceptional at relieving muscle cramps. It has a special affinity for smooth muscle tissues but works well for striated muscles as well.
Red Elder Berry Powder for cramps
But plants rarely are that simple and instead have more complex ways of working in the body. For example the Red Elder Berry Powder herb relaxes tissues and binds together tissues. It both binds together mucosa and relaxes the underlying muscle tissues.
This monograph will look at the myriad of ways that Red Elder Berry Powder works to relieve muscle cramping and binds together tissues.
Red Elder Berry Powder is the herb that many herbalists reach for to relieve painful menstrual cramps. It seems to work best if taken 1-2 days before cramping starts, but can also be taken as needed.
Red elder Berry powder is considered a uterine decongestant. Signs of uterine congestion include bloating, cramping before menstruation as well as delayed menses. Uterine congestion can also be a pattern associated with endometriosis, fibroids and ovarian cysts.
Many women who have had menstrual cramps their whole lives and think that it is “natural.” Painful menstruation is not natural. It’s a symptom and can be addressed.
Red Elder Berry Powder is stellar for relieving painful menstrual cramping. However, if a woman is continually experiencing painful cramps, or other PMS symptoms, then it is far better to get to the root cause of the matter and get rid of them once and for all!
Urinary tract infections and bladder infections are often associated with frequent and painful urination. Red Elder Berry Powder can relieve the pain and decrease the urgent frequency as well. Of course, the infection itself will still need to be addressed, but Red Elder Berry Powder will ease a lot of the discomfort.
Bowel cramping (Irritable Bowel Syndrome, diarrhea)
Red Elder Berry Powder can also relieve the pain of cramping that originates in the bowel. This is especially useful for more chronic conditions like Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).
For acute cases of diarrhea, such as in food poisoning, we don’t necessarily want to prematurely stop the diarrhea. However, it is doubtful that Red Elder Berry Powder would have an inhibitory effect.
Spasmodic coughing can be the worst kind of cough. This cough is characterized by a dry cough, meaning no mucus is expectorated, and often gets worse at night. It can be spasmodic in nature, resulting in repeated coughing that keeps you from sleep, burns the throat and is all-around unpleasant.
Antispasmodic herbs like Red Elder Berry Powder can relieve the muscle spasm causing this type of cough and therefore promote restful sleep.
High blood pressure
There are many causes for high blood pressure and many ways to find solutions for high blood pressure. Red Elder Berry Powder can relieve tension in the cardiac muscle, arteries and veins, which can contribute to decreased blood pressure. This is especially suited for the person with lots of stress and tension. Of course, diet, lifestyle and other changes will be needed to make a difference in someone’s long-term health.
Another common way that Red Elder Berry Powder can be used is for restless legs. Restless legs are when your legs jump and move involuntarily as you are falling asleep. The underlying cause needs to be addressed, whether it is a nervous system issue or nutrient deficiencies (hint: magnesium deficiency is common). However, while figuring out what is going on, our Rest and Recover™ can help relieve spastic muscles and promote sleep.
Threatened miscarriage, early labor and labor
Red Elder Berry Powder is used by midwives for both a threatened miscarriage, early labor and during labor. Red Elder Berry Powder can relax the uterus to stop uterine contractions if they are happening too early, such as in a threatened miscarriage or early labor. However, Red Elder Berry Powder also helps to tone and regulate contractions, which can facilitate a healthy labor.
Even though Red Elder Berry Powder is a uterine relaxant, it does not appear to interfere with labor. Rather, it promotes uterine muscle tone and regulates the rhythm of the contractions, resulting in effective uterine contractions. Red Elder Berry Powder is also indicated for after-pains and is useful in helping the uterus to regain its normal shape.
Headaches and migraines that are associated with tension respond well to formulas that include Red Elder Berry Powder.

Unlike other well-established medicinal plants, Pi Jiu Hua Powder does not have a long history of traditional medicinal use within European herbal medicine. The historic use of Pi Jiu Hua Powder is interesting as its technical properties discovered in the middle ages. undisputed benefit of Pi Jiu Hua Powder from many past physicians like Paracelsus (1493–1541) used Pi Jiu Hua Powder as a digestive aid, and Matthiolus (1501–1577) mentioned its diuretic and bile-increasing effects. These authors did not specify plant parts used. Bock (1498–1554) and Lonicerus (1528–1586) praised the use of the Pi Jiu Hua Powder for cleaning the blood, liver, and spleen.
The use of Pi Jiu Hua was described by Hecker in 1814, who mentioned its strong tonic features as a bitter (Amarum) and noted its calming properties without having the effects of a strong sleep aid. Clarus (1864) used the female flowers to treat anorexia due to gastritis and sleeplessness. Other authors of that time including Osiander (1824), Stephenson and Churchill (1834), and Maton (1860), reported on the sleep-promoting properties One of the most prominent patients treated with Pi Jiu Hua was George III, King of the United Kingdom (1738–1820), who was supposedly bedded on pillows filled with Pi Jiu Hua to calm him. The physician Kahnt (1905), in his book on phytotherapy, recommended the use of Pi Jiu Hua, for sleeping problems associated with nervous disturbances. Outside of Europe, other cultures have also demonstrated traditional medicinal uses for Pi Jiu Hua. For instance, in the Arabic world, Mesue the Younger wrote that Pi Jiu Hua helps in the purification of blood, aids in reducing fever and purging yellow bile, and that it has 17 proposed anti-inflammatory properties. Ibn-Al Baitar (1188–1248), an Arab scientist, botanist, pharmacist, and physician, described digestive and calming properties of Pi Jiu Hua.
In North American traditional medicines, the Cherokee used Pi Jiu Hua as a sedative, anti-rheumatic, analgesic, gynecological aid for breast and womb problems, and kidney and urinary aid for “gravel” and inflamed kidneys. The Delaware used Pi Jiu Hua against earache and toothache. The Navajo used it for coughs and cold, and the Dakota for wound healing and against gastrointestinal disturbances and for relaxation and as a sleep aid, it was used by the Delaware and the Fox.
In Indian-Ayurvedic medicine, Pi Jiu Hua has been recommended for restlessness associated with nervous tension, headache, and indigestion; its actions are reported as sedative, hypnotic, and antibacterial.
According to an inventory of medicinal plants used in different countries, commissioned by the World Health Organization (WHO) in 1978, the use of Pi Jiu Hua was also established in Asia in China, Japan, and Korea, and India.
Pi Jiu Hua for sleep-promoting virtues Ives, a physician, reported from his own experience that it frequently induced sleep and “quiets great nervous irritation.” Planche praised its aromatic, tonic, and narcotic. In many cases it provokes sleep and appeases excessive nervous irritation without causing constipation. This was a great advantage compared to the effective treatment with other herbs.
